HYDRA / WORLD OBSERVATORYAVIATION INTELLIGENCE

Flight activity // trade · travel · economy

Monthly global demand, daily European flights, and annual historical context. Every signal carries its source date, coverage and validation status.

Current global demand · IATA monthly releases

Demand and capacity are year-on-year changes in distance-weighted traffic. Monthly RPK and CTK are separate from the annual passenger-count and freight histories below.

Historical annual aviation signals

Experimental stress = weaker growth relative to the preceding 15 years. At least 10 prior observations required. No market-score weight.

Descriptive research

Worldwide carrier activity

Official world aggregate; annual, latest revised history.

European operations pulse

Daily network aggregate, including overflights. The 28-day comparison requires every day in the current and reference windows. Country totals overlap and are never summed.

Economic transmission channels

01 / Trade

Air cargo → goods movement

Freight tonne-km measures transported weight × distance. Changes can accompany high-value goods demand and supply-chain pressure; longer routes can increase tonne-km without more goods.

Compare with real export growth. No conversion to trade dollars is inferred.

02 / Tourism

Passenger travel → visitor demand

Passenger traffic can accompany hotel, leisure and retail demand. Domestic and business passengers are included; airline domicile does not identify the visitor destination.

Compare with international tourist arrivals; the concepts and transport modes differ.

03 / World economy

Activity → economic context

Cargo and travel move with economic demand, but fuel costs, capacity, routes, weather and disruptions also matter. Low traffic alone does not establish war or recession.

The validation panel separates co-movement from next-year association.
